This position presents a unique opportunity to assume a senior position in a team which is passionate about advising business and government on solutions to society’s most pressing public policy and economic challenges.
What will your typical day look like?
You are a systematic yet creative economist, who loves using a variety of quantitative and qualitative analytical frameworks, models and techniques to assess economic and public policy issues. You will capture your findings in reports and craft compelling presentations to inform key decision makers across Australia’s commercial organisations and Government.
In terms of day-to-day you will be involved in:
- Policy analysis and strategic advice
- Robust debates about topical economic and public policy problems
- Economic contribution and economic impact studies, to cost benefit analysis and Regulatory Impact Statements. A broad application of economic techniques is used
- Technical economic and data analysis/interpretation
- Answering the why and so what on a variety of economic and policy issues in reports

We are part of a national specialist economics advisory practice offering an array of microeconomic and macroeconomic services including modelling, policy analysis, forecasting and strategic advisory. Our work spans all industry sectors and virtually all areas of economic and industry policy.

In the team, we work across a variety of public sector and industry issues – offering services including policy analysis and development, economic impact assessments, cost benefit analysis and thought leadership reports.
Enough about us, let's talk about you
You will bring to our high-performing team the following attributes:
- As a Director you will have around seven plus years’ of relevant experience ideally as a professional economist or policy advisor, in other consulting firms, applied academia, industry bodies or from within government
- As part of this experience you will need to demonstrate project management experience which delivered projects and analysis using a multidisciplinary team. For example, working to manage both technical experts and policy specialists to produce considered analysis and reports
- A passion for policy and the application of frameworks and theory to real world issues, in particular an interest in strategic economic policy
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex economic and public policy problems in an easy to understand manner
- An agile working style, with the ability to manage multiple research projects, project teams and competing client needs simultaneously
- Strong critical thinking skills, confidence working with/interpreting data, adeptness in a project team environment
- Strong results in a degree in economics, with degrees in public policy or other related disciplines also considered (Honours in Economics or above is preferred, but is not essential)
