Azure Software Engineer | Consultant | Engineering, AI & Data | Brisbane
Join our Engineering, AI & Data team in Brisbane and help clients solve complex technology challenges through cloud engineering, AI-enabled delivery and modern software development practices.
What will your typical day look like?
As a Consultant within our Engineering practice, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, architects and client stakeholders to design, build and deliver modern cloud-native solutions.
Some engagements will see you developing APIs, integrations, event-driven applications and Azure-based services. On others, you'll be supporting technical design workshops, gathering requirements, resolving engineering challenges and helping clients move from ideas to working solutions.
You'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful client projects across government, financial services, and other complex industries, while continuing to build your technical, consulting and problem-solving capabilities.
Your responsibilities may include:

Designing, developing and supporting cloud-native applications and services on Microsoft Azure.

Building APIs, integrations and event-driven solutions as part of multidisciplinary delivery teams.

Working with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.

Contributing to technical design discussions, solution delivery and engineering decision-making.

Writing clean, maintainable code and participating in code reviews and testing activities.

Supporting CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices.

Applying AI-assisted engineering practices across analysis, development, testing and documentation.

Communicating technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Collaborating with engineering teams across Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.

Contributing to reusable engineering assets, delivery accelerators and continuous improvement initiatives.

The team works across cloud platforms, software engineering, data and AI to deliver complex transformation programs in sectors where reliability, trust and impact matter.
You'll be part of a collaborative and supportive team that values continuous learning, strong engineering fundamentals and the responsible use of AI to improve delivery outcomes.

You may have all or some of the following skills and experience:

Around 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience, including developing and supporting applications in production environments.

Experience working within Agile delivery teams to design, build and deliver software solutions.

Exposure to client-facing environments, stakeholder engagement or requirements gathering activities.

Strong adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices. You should be able to demonstrate how AI tooling has improved your productivity, software quality or delivery outcomes.

Experience with C# and .NET, or experience with Java or Python and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
-
Experience building APIs, integrations and modern software applications.
-
Exposure to Microsoft Azure services such as App Services, Functions, API Management, Service Bus, Logic Apps or Container Apps.

Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including testing, code quality, maintainability and security.

Experience using source control platforms such as Git and working with CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps or GitHub.

Exposure to Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep would be highly regarded.

Experience using AI engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code or similar tools within your day-to-day workflow.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through ambiguity and learn quickly.

Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.

A growth mindset, curiosity and willingness to continuously learn and develop.

A collaborative approach, with the ability to contribute to team success and support others through knowledge sharing.

Azure certifications.

Experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry or AI-enabled application development.

Exposure to event-driven architectures, integration platforms or messaging technologies.

Experience with Terraform, Bicep or cloud automation tooling.

Previous consulting, professional services or client-facing delivery experience.

Experience working within government, financial services or regulated environments.
