About our team

Deloitte’s Global Investment and Innovation Incentives (Gi3) team works to assist our clients to undertake innovation and new investment related activities by identifying and securing government support for those activities.

Our team uses its specialised knowledge to work across industry sectors, supporting clients to optimise R&D claims, while providing insights into strategies that reduce the cost of development activities.

There is an exciting opportunity for a high performing Manager with experience in the preparation of R&D Tax Incentive claims to join our National Gi3 Team. 


We are looking for a person who wants to make a positive impact on client businesses who will work as part of the team based in our Deloitte Adelaide Office.  This role has good potential for career progression.


What will your day look like?

The role is predominantly that of a Manager in our R&D Tax Incentive Group, but the role will also provide an opportunity to spend time working on Grant Funding proposals.


You will have a key role in managing engagements, identifying opportunities for existing and prospective clients, and working cooperatively with clients to develop high quality R&D Tax Incentive applications.  You will be supported by experienced mentors to drive your success in this exciting and challenging role.


On a day to day basis, the role will involve:

  • Working closely with clients, speaking with engineering and technical staff to understand their technology developments, and gather related information;
  • Performing research and preparing documentation that describes the technology development activities of clients, and demonstrates eligibility of those activities for the R&D Tax Incentive.
  • Creating information required to register client claims with AusIndustry, and integrate costing details with client tax returns to enable them to obtain financial support
  • Advising clients regarding R&D Tax Incentive technical matters
  • Managing multiple engagements with public and private sector clients, building strong client relationships, while delivering engagements on time and within budget
  • Mentoring and training more staff members in the team, guiding them and motivating them to complete complex projects
  • Ensuring the firm’s Quality and Risk procedures are complied with for all engagements
  • Assisting with proposals, budgeting, billing and controlling of work in progress

This Manager position will require a person with prior experience in preparation of R&D Tax Incentive claims, who can make an important contribution to our local Adelaide Gi3 team while also working with teams based interstate.  The preferred candidate will be based in Adelaide, and will likely:


  • Have prior experience working as part of a firm that prepares R&D tax incentive claims for a range of clients
  • Be degree qualified in Science or Engineering disciplines that enable you to understand client technologies and have discussions with technical staff
  • Be self-driven and able to take responsibility for completion of assignments on time and and within budget.
  • possesses strong soft skills that enable you to develop relationships with the Deloitte team, clients, and government stakeholders. 
  • be able to demonstrate strong skills in written communication
  • have a highly developed problem solving ability, and the ability to be adaptable.
  • Be prepared to travel locally and interstate to undertake client assignments.  (The travel component of the role will be occasional and for short periods only)
